The Housemaid (Korean: 하녀, translit. Ha-nyeo) is a 2010 South Korean melodramatic thriller film directed by Im Sang-soo. The story focuses on Eun-yi, played by Jeon Do-yeon, who becomes involved in a destructive love triangle while working as a housemaid for an upper-class family.

Other cast members include Lee Jung-jae, Seo Woo and Yoon Yeo-jeong. The film is a remake of Kim Ki-young’s 1960 film The Housemaid. It competed for the Palme d’Or at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.

Source Code is a 2011 American science fiction mystery thriller film directed by Duncan Jones, written by Ben Ripley, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright. It was released on April 1, 2011 in North America and Europe by Summit Entertainment.

Filming began on March 1, 2010 in Montreal, Canada and ended on April 29, 2010. Several scenes were shot in Chicago, Illinois, specifically at Millennium Park. Editing took place in Los Angeles. In July 2010, the film was in the visual effects stage of post-production.

Back to the Future: The Game is a graphic adventure video game based on the Back to the Future film franchise. The game is being developed by Telltale Games as part of a licensing deal with Universal Pictures. Bob Gale, who was involved with the creation of the film trilogy, is assisting Telltale in writing the game’s story, while both the original actors Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd have allowed the developers to use their likenesses in the game for the lead characters Marty McFly and Doc Brown, respectively.

Lloyd will also be providing the voice for Doc, while new talent AJ LoCascio will play the role of Marty. The game will be split up into five episodes available on multiple gaming platforms, the first episode released for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X on December 22, 2010, while PlayStation 3 and iPad versions followed in February 2011.

Just about any collection of data can be converted to sound thru sonification. The data collected from the Large Hadron Collider has been converted to sounds and made available to the public. Synthgear is making a remix contest, where you must use the sounds from the LHC at the basis for a remix. Submission must be done before February 28th, 2011.

Matt Richardson from makezine shows us how he creates an mp3 music box using an old mp3 player and a cigar box. The aim was that the opening of the cigar box would trigger the music to start.
If Philadelphia has Rocky, why can’t Detroit have Robocop? Since the city denied funding itself organizer John Leonard created a facebook group and kickstarter project, which already reached it’s goal of $50.000. It will be funded on Saturday March 26th.

Though the video is from last year, it is still pretty amazing. A father and his son decide to launch an iPhone into space using a helium filled balloon. Since the balloon will burst at a certain time, they build an burst container and hopefully will be able to use the iPhone’s internal GPS to locate it later on to retrieve it. Check the result below:
R.E.M. is an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, USA, in 1980 by Michael Stipe (lead vocals), Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Bill Berry (drums and percussion). R.E.M. was one of the first popular alternative rock bands, and gained early attention due to Buck’s ringing, arpeggiated guitar style and Stipe’s unclear vocals.

R.E.M. will be releasing their new album “Collapse Into Now” on March 8th. The record will include guest appearances by Eddie Vedder, Patti Smith, Lenny Kaye and Joel Gibb.
